This colorful couple
looks as if they just alit atop this gorgeous amethyst rose base.
Perhaps
they are talking to each other about what splendid colors they possess. They are
brilliant colored with green serpentine, lightly speckled with red dots. This is
a rare type of serpentine called Williamsite.
Williamsite occurs when masse
of tiny inter grown crystals compound.
Their tails are expertly carved and
elongated to show-off their beautiful colors and exquisite detail.
Their
sweet little faces were carved from white calcite. White calcite is quite rare
and can only be formed by complex crystal combinations.
Their prominent beaks
were carved from highly polished black jet. Jet is organic in origin and has
also been know as black amber. It is one of the oldest carved minerals, dating
back to at least 1,400BC.
Their feet are solid gold plated.
These two are
perfectly perched on a bowl of amethyst rose. Amethyst roses are formed when
beautiful, delicate, pale purple amethyst grows in thin plates. These are areas
that the amethyst has grown in floral pattern. It is slightly concave. it is a
stunning effect.
This beautiful amethyst rose base sits on top a pinewood
base carved exclusively for this sculpture.
This unique bird sculpture with
their inquisitive looks would be a true delight to anyone's collection.
